Abhropratim Manna of Kolkata emerges unbeaten champions

UNB, Dhaka

Abhropratim Manna of Kolkata Don Bossco School emerged unbeaten champions in the Class V1 to X Group of the 10th Standard Chartered School Chess Tournament securing 8.5 points on Wednesday.

In the 9th and last round match, Abhropratim drew with Abdullah Al Saif of Quality Educational Institution at the NSC Conference room this (Wednesday) evening.

Saif finished runner-up with 7.5 points.

In the KG to Class V Group, Sayan Majumder of Indira Gandhi School (India) became champions with an unbeaten run collecting 8.5 points after beating Farhad in the last round match today.

Aditya Chakraborty of Delhi Public School finished runner-up with 7.5 points.

In the Girls' Group, Mohana Sengupta of Binodini Girls High School clinched the title undefeated collecting six points while Shaati Majumder of Indira Gandhi School finished runner-up with the same points.

Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr Salehuddin Ahmed was the chief guest in the day's closing function and later distributed prizes. Managing Director (Origination & Client Coverage) of Standard Chartered Bank Ahmed Ali Shah was also present.

A total of 214 students from India, Nepal and Bangladesh took part in the meet.
