The foundation stones of the Shilpakala Academy and Public Library buildings were laid down at Kawnia upazila town on Monday to fulfil the long-cherished demand of the people in the upazila.

A colourful ceremony was organised on the occasion with Balapara UP chairman Nurul Islam in the chair.

Outgoing UNO of Kawnia upazila Zakir Hossain was present as the chief guest and formally laid down the foundations stones.

Principal of Kawnia Degree College Prof Mofazzal Hossain, Upazila engineer Nurul Islam, Upazila Agriculture Officer Feroz Ahmed, Livestock Officer Mir Faruk Hossain, Project Implementation Officer Norendra Nath Pal, OC of Kawnia Thana Kamrul Islam, Secondary Education Officer Rabeya Kha-tun, were present.
