The three-day fruit bearing tree fair organised on the upazila parishad premises by the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) ended on Wednesday.

The concluding ceremony was held with UNO M Habibur Rahman in the chair while deputy commissioner Abu Muhammad Yousuf addressed it as the chief guest.

The function was also addressed, among others, by upazila agriculture officer M Shawkat Ali Sarker, president of upazila Nursery Owners Samity M. Saidur Rahman and Moulana M. Shamsul Haque.

The speakers stressed the need for planting more saplings of fruit bearing trees to meet the demand of nutrition and maintain the ecological balance.

Later, the brilliant students who obtained GPA-5 in the last SSC examination were given saplings of fruit bearing trees free of cost.
