Police in separate anti-crime drives arrested 42 persons including absconding criminals from different places in the district during the last 24 hours.

Police said the arrested persons include wanted criminals, terrorists, thieves, drug smugglers, addicts, gamblers, absconding convicts and accused persons in different cases, inter-district drug-peddlers and other anti-social elements.

Police also recovered huge quantities of drugs including ganja, phensidyl, locally produced wine, stolen goods and other illegal items during the drives.

Kotwali police arrested 25 persons, Taraganj three, Gangachara one, Badarganj one, Mithapukur nine, Pirganj one, Pirgacha one and Kawnia police arrested one person during the raids.

The arrested persons were sent to jail hajat.
