Hua Du the outgoing country director of the Asian Development Bank was accorded a farewell reception at the Sonargaon Hotel in the city yesterday.

Senior government officials, members of the foreign diplomatic corps, editors of national newspapers, leaders of the business communities and non-governmental organisations were present and said good bye to her.

Hua Du narrated her experiences of working in Bangladesh and the projects taken up by the ADB to support development efforts. The primary education project was larger than the Jamuna Bridge Project, she noted and thanked all for extending co-operation during her tenure in Dhaka.

Aminul Islam Bhuiyan, Secretary, Economic Relations Division, on behalf of the government thanked Hua Du for her tireless efforts to support development initiatives in Bangladesh.
