Eminent journalist Nirmal Sen, also a politician, has been honoured with Sohel Samad Smriti Award` 2008 for his outstanding contribution to different fields of the country.

The veteran journalist was honoured by the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) at a ceremony at its seminar hall yesterday.

National University Vice-Chancellor Prof Syed Rashedul Hasan was present at the award giving function as chief guest. Mohammad Nazrul Islam, Director General of PIB, Eminent journalist Gias Kamal Chowdhury, Prof Shakhwat Ali Khan and Showkat Mahmud, President of the National Press Club were present on the occasion.
