The New Nation - Internet Edition

Often my students and others ask me which book or manuals should be used for learning/improving English language proficiency.

In fact, the market is currently flooded with several books on English language learning of which there are some pirated publications too! What I strongly feel and hope many would agree that the Government should undertake a special project involving our local and international experts to prepare an unified set of very relevant texts aided by audios and videos plus a handy and easy Teacher's guide to help students and others learn and practice actually required English.

Agri-marketing needs improvement

According to a newspaper report, green chilies are now sold Tk.2/- per kilo in the market. This means that the chilly farmers are being deprived of getting due price of their produce!

In fact, the Agricultural Marketing system of our country needs immediate overhauling. I think, both govt. and NGOs should undertake urgent programs for modernizing our agric marketing system thereby developing both infrastructure and operational network for selling, storing, and processing of farm products. If the current marketing system persists, the farmers will soon abandon agric profession and opt for some other cash occupation! Hence at any cost, the farmers should be provided with necessary facilities for marketing of their produce so that they can get back their investment money plus profit.
