Sobuj Biplob Sangstha, a local NGO, has been implementing massive afforestation programme at village Notidanga under Baradi union of Alamdanga upazila in the district. Under the programme, saplings of different variety of trees will be planted on both sides of 10 kilometre -long GK canal.

Sources said source Sobuj Biplob Sangstha will plant about two lakh saplings in the area.

The plantation along the GK canal was launched on June 26 and expected to be completed by July 5 next. Sanwar Hossain, registration officer of Chuadanga district social welfare Department formally opened the afforestation programme.

The source further said about one hundred labourers are working there to plant the saplings every day.
