Waters in all rivers of the district including Sumeswari, Kangso, Dhono and Mogra has been rising continuously following torrential rainfall for the last consecutive five days.

Local Water Development Board (WDB) office said, water in the Sumeswari river recorded a sharp rise at Berishiri point of Durgapur upazila, the Kangso river increased at Jaria point under Purbadhala upazila and at Kalmakanda upazila town point.

The Dhano river increased at Gaglajur point under Mohanganj upazila and the Mogra river recorded a sharp rise at Netrakona town point during the last 24 hours ending 6 PM on Thursday.

If a heavy downpour occurred, most of the rivers are likely to cross danger levels at different points causing floods in different low-lying areas of the district.
