Birth Registration Day was observed in the district on Thursday with much enthusiasm. District Administration, UNICEF and Local Government Department organised the day's programmes. A discussion was held at the conference room of deputy commissioner's office with ADC (gen) Md Matiur Rahman in the chair.

Local government officials, social workers and public representatives spoke on the occasion.

The meeting was informed that 80 percent birth registration has been achieved in the district so far. While 100 percent birth registration was achieved in Ranisankail and Haripur upazilas of the district.

The meeting resolved covering hundred per cent birth registration within the next two months in other three upazilas including the district headquarter.

Earlier, a big rally participated by local government officials, members of joint forces, elite, students was brought out in the town.

Besides, essay and art competitions and cultural function were arranged at the local Shilpakala Academy.
