Tk 100cr DANIDA projects for poverty alleviation starts in Barisal Our Correspondent, Barisal Implementation of a hundred-crore taka project for poverty alleviation and creating self-sufficiency of the poor class has been started in Barisal division. The project named as 'regional fishing and livestock development : Barisal component' funded by Danish International Development Assistant (DANIDA) would be implemented in 24 upazilas of Barisal, Barguna Jhalakati,Pirojpur,Bhola and Patuakhali districts of Barisal division. Under this project 2, 87,500 families of poor class would be included and ratio of male and female participants of the stakeholders would be 70:30, said Abdul Aziz and Joyenuddin Molla, district fishery and livestock officers on Sunday. The project would be ended on 2012 and funds for and assistances for social fishing and livestock farming, management of fishing water resources, skill and management development training on the specified fields would be provided to the stakeholders through different government and non-government agencies and organs, the officials added. After successful completion of this project, socio-economic status of the poor peoples of this region would be changed and developed, they hoped.
