Three persons were sentenced to life term imprisonment by a court here on Sunday for murdering a person five and a half years ago. District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Siddiqul Arefin Chowdhury delivered the verdict in a crowded courtroom. The court also fined the convicts Taka 10,000 each in default to suffer six months more in jail.

The convicts wee identified as Dulal Mridha, Anwar Mridha and Khabir Mridha.

The court acquitted five other accused as charges against them could not be proved. They are Salam Mridha, Nur Khan, Mohammad Zahir, Mohammmad Shaheen and Badal Sikder.

The prosecution story in brief, is that, the convicts killed Sagir Mridha of Dakhkhin Sadis village of Kalaskathi union under Bakerganj upazila in the district on February 25 in 2003 following a previous enmity.

A murder case was filed against the accused on the same day and police submitted chargesheet before the court on August 17 in 2005 against eight persons.

After examining the witnesses and evidence, the judge pronounced the verdict on Sunday.
