Poem

Day and night

Md. Maiz Uddin

Life goeth to the dark

Day by day thou art to embark

The account of habitual deeds

From cradle to grave when in need.

Night and might mare giver of joyful thought,

That happiness, peace and tranquility brought.

Evening calls for mental prayer,

Angels build surroundings to save there.

But who is to notice for ?

All deeds are submerged or,

Counting sin and vice on thine favour.

Meditation at dead of night

Must bring thou a life bright,

At drwn we to leave worldly comfort

At the call of devotion to God.

Day ad night for us all

Taking vigour and name enroll,

In the book of account bearing shoulders

Only He on the doomsday will be the saver.

Night is not only the hour of joy!

But to think, ponder and sin to destroy.

That very poor boy

Md. Maiz Uddin

That very poor boy with no joy

claims for livelihood to destroy

Hunger and anxiety in mind

To live in earth as a human kind.

But none cares for him

Sorrow and distress full to the brim

whips and canes are due to him.

Food and foodgrains in the dustbin

Destroyed unanimously those are unseen

Whose contribution are there

of misusing and damping

Living materials for ev'r?

But he'll count everything,

Anybody and anyone to be asked

And interrogated for his deeds

Perseverance, pondering, meditation

And all other preservation and submission.

Human kind is one for another

Created by God Himself for

Assisting the distressed in need,

Assisting the ill-fated in deed,

Assisting the destitutes in fact.

Round the year

Dr. Sirajul Karim

Oh! my dear

to me once

you were so near!

With me where you were not?

Were you not at my lips?

Were you not at my heart?

In the morning

we would meet

at the chemistry building.

We would walk together

at the forestry building

by taking our hands

in each other

in the evening.

You would come to me

at night deep

from the room nearby

and awake me

from deep night sleep

and would say

'Tell me Oh! my dear

what should I do now

I cannot bear

the burden of your love

in my small heart.

Why don't you hear

the beating of my heart

though I am to you

very close very near

just like a clock

of your heart

round the year'.
