Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) yesterday re-fixed fares of passenger launches in the wake of diesel price hike.

The decision to re-fix the fares was taken at a joint meeting of BIWTA officials and representatives of Passenger Launch Owners Association here, said a press release.

Passengers will be charged Tk. 0.88 instead of existing Tk. 0.80 per km for traveling more than 100 km while Tk. 1.18 instead of existing Tk. 1.00 per km for traveling less than 100 km.

The minimum fare has been re-fixed at Tk. 10.00 from Tk. 9.00 earlier.

The new rate of launch fares comes into effect from today.
