A group of muggers shot and wounded an accountant of a cloth-washing factory and snatched Tk five lakh and fifty thousand from him at Pallabi area in Mirpur in the city yesterday.

Sources said a gang of three bandits came riding a motorcycle and waylaid and fired on Mohammad Sentu, 30, in his left thigh near Purabi Cinema Hall in Pallabi at about 1:45pm. They grabbed the money and fled.

Sentu, accountant of Bright International, came under the daylight gun attack while returning to his factory after drawing the money from One Bank's Mirpur-11 Branch.

He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.

A case was filed with Pallabi in this connection.
