The 'Shekribi Oikka Parishad', an united forum of all the associations including Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Teachers' Association has demanded appointment of Vice Chancellor at SAU from among the serving teachers of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), Dhaka. On June 22, the Parishad brought out a silent procession to press home realise their just demand. It may be indicated here that there are a number of highly qualified and competent senior Professors at SAU who have the eligibility to become vice chancellor.

Meanwhile the Oikka Parishad said in a handout that if their demand is not met by June 26, 2008, the concerned members of the SAU Oikka Parishad will tender their resignation from their respective additional charges after holding a meeting on the same day.

It is sincerely expected that the honorable Chancellor of SAU and Chief Adviser of the Caretaker Government will be pleased to take appropriate action in the greater interest of SAU.

The Jatrabari-Fulbaria Road is one of the busiest thoroughfare in the city. It has almost an unending traffic flow throught the day. This road is more crowdy at Rajdhani-Baldha Garden crossing. Tousands of people - old, young, children (including school-going ones), men, women from Wari-Narinda area - have to cross the road at this point. The motor transport density is so high at this point that the road users have to wait too long to cross it on foot with high risks.

The drivers are hardly careful in moving through this point; they rather drive hastily even at this crowded point. That is why incidents of accidents (sometimes causing fatality) are not infrequent at this crossing.

This problem of the padestrians could easily be addressed by constructing a foot over-bridge at this intersection.

We hope, DCC shall seriously consider our proposal.
