Credible polls under emergency to be difficult : Moriarty UNB, Dhaka US Ambassador James Moriarty again said that holding a credible election to parliament would probably be difficult with the stare of emergency fully in place.Talking to reporters after meeting with Home Affairs Advisor Maj Gen (retd) MA Matin yesterday, Moriarty hoped that the condition would allow the government to lift the emergency.The US Ambassador said he believes that the government is "making ways to make it possible to hold a credible election by the end of this year". He appreciated the caretaker government's dialogue with political parties to reach understanding on issues ahead of the election.About the release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, the American Ambassador hoped that there would be progress on that issue.About the meeting with the Home Affairs Advisor Moriarty said they discussed bilateral issues of mutual interest, including preparation for the elections.Political Officer of the US Embassy Dan Biers was present among others at the meeting.
