The New Nation - Internet Edition

A few days back, services of some high-ranking army officers were placed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their appointment as ambassador in Bangladesh missions abroad. True, the Government appoints officials outside the foreign-service cadre in public interest. I appreciate this but why not senior competent officials from other discipline including varsity professors are given diplomatic appointments for realizing national interests abroad? Would the government please create the norm?
