The 6th Annual General Meeting of Bangladesh Label Manufacturers and Exporters Association was held on Tuesday at the office of the Association.

Shibbir Mahmud, Acting President of the Association presided over the meeting. A good number of members were present in the meeting.

The meeting reviewed the overall performance and position of the label industries sector of the country which has an investment of Tk 5000 crore (US$700 million) involving about 40,000 manpower. The total volume of export amounted to US$500 million during the year under report with an annual growth rate of about 20 per cent every year.

The meeting adopted the Annual Report of the Executive Committee and Audited Accounts of the Association for the year 2007.

The names of the seven members Executive Committee elected for the next two years term (2008-2010) were announced in the meeting. They are: Mohammed Hossain Sattar, Director, Labels for Less Ltd-President, Shahidul Hag Sikder, MD, Sikder Computerised Labels Ltd-First Vice-President, Abul Kalam Azad, MD, Azad Label Industries Ltd-Vice-President (Finance), Ahsan Shahed Khan, MD, Union Accessories Ltd, Mohd Shaukat Hossain, Chairman, Jupiter Accessories Ltd, Md Moniruzzaman Khan, MD, Codes and Labels Ltd and Mizanur Rahman Azad, MD, SRA Label Industries Ltd were elected members of the executive committee.
