2000 jobs to be available in real estate industry: DIU introduces Bachelor of Real Estate programme

Daffodil International University (DIU), one of the leading private universities of the country, yesterday introduced a four-year 'Bachelor of Real Estate (BRE)' programme for the first time in Bangladesh.

Such a programme is now available at two universities of two countries of South Asia only.

The four-year BRE programme will cost Tk 2,40,200.

Chairman of DIU Sabur Khan along with the President of Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) Tanveerul Haque Probal inaugurated the Real Estate Department at DIU yesterday in presence of a large number of students.

Speaking on the occasion, Tanveerul Haque Probal said since there is no scope of constructing buildings in the Dhaka city, students should develop their mentality for working at countryside and suburbs.

He recommended the board of directors of the DIU to incorporate technical, architectural and civil engineering concepts in the course apart from the concept of business. The REHAB president also informed that some 2,000 posts would be created in the real estate industry in next few months and the BRE degree holders would get priority for these posts.

Terming the real estate 'a blooming industry,' Sabur Khan said, "There are lots of job opportunities in this sector if we can teach our students properly."

He also mentioned that DIU has taken an initiative to incorporate some courses on real estate in the curricula of B.Com, BBA and MBA with a view to meeting the existing needs of real estate companies of the country.

Mizanur Rahman, Head of the Real Estate Department said real estate is one of the most promising and important sectors of business. As shelter is a basic need of human beings the course would enrich students knowledge and understanding in the field of real state which in turn provide service for the nation, he added.
