A six-member delegation of National Christian Fellowship of Bangladesh (NCFB) on Tuesday called on Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed at his office here.

The NCFB delegation raised the matter of VAT and income related tax exemption for hospitals and health care institutions of the Churches.

The Chief Adviser gave them a patient hearing and said the concerned authorities will look into the matter.

The delegation included Bishop Maichel Baroi, Samson H Chowdhury, Principal Father Benzamin Causta, Reva Leor Pritam Sarkar, Jayanta Odhikari and Danis Dilip Datta.

Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser Syed Fahim Munaim was present.

Meghna-Gomati Bridge fully opened yesterday afternoon for traffic after completion of the maintenance work.

A Japanese company repaired the 17 expansion joints of the 1410- meter bridge at a cost of Taka 3 crore.

For the maintenance work, the movement of heavy vehicles was restricted from May 15, 2008 on the bridge connecting Chittagong Port City and 10 other districts.

The bridge was constructed in 1994.
