Preserving memory of martyrs is responsibility of all of us: Anwarul BSS, Comilla LGRD and Cooperatives Adviser Mohammad Anwarul Iqbal on Saturday said preserving the memory of martyrs in great Liberation War and upholding their heroic deeds to the next generation are the responsibility of all of us. He was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of Noapur Shaheed Smriti Public Library and Auditorium in Chouddagram upazila here. Earlier, Commander of Sector-3 in the Liberation War Major General (retd) KM Shafiullah inaugurated the public library and auditorium. Financed by the Local Government Division, the library and auditorium was built at a cost of Taka 36 lakh, an official handout said. Preserving the memory of the Liberation War for new generation, the LGRD adviser said, public libraries and memorial museums were set up at the villages of seven 'Bir Shreshthas' and their villages were named after them. Besides, initiatives were taken to preserve the memories of the Liberation War and freedom fighters across the country, he said, adding local people should be aware of it. Shafiullah said the steps would play a remarkable role in infusing patriotism into the next generation. He demanded necessary steps for trial of the war criminals. Chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Comilla Mohammad Manjurur Rahman, the function was addressed, among others, by Director General of the Social Service Department Dr Kamal Abdul Naser, Police Super Imtiaz Ahmed and CEO of Comilla Zila Parishad M Asaduzzaman.
