A school girl was rescued by police after seven days of her abduction, in Dewanganj upazila yesterday.

Police also arrested the abductor Abdur Rashid and his wife Sultana Begum.

According to Dewanganj Thana police, the couple kidnapped Sima Akhter, 13 a student of class three of Charkalikapur Anonda School on June 10 from Balugram area. She was going to her uncle's house at that time.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided Dewanganj railway area and rescued the girl and send her to Jamalpur General Hospital for medical examination.

A case was registered with Dewanganj thana police by the victim's father Mohammad Ali under Women and Child Repression Act.
