Burglars took away Tk 20.64 lakh breaking the steel almirah, cabinets and iron safes from inside the office-room of jailed businessman Giasuddin Al Mamun at Silver Tower at Gulshan in the city yesterday.

Gulshan police said the burglars entered the offices of Silver Line Associates and Sundarban Travels housed at the second floor of Silver Tower owned by Mamun, a close aide of detained BNP senior secretary general Tarique Rahman, sometime between Wednesday afternoon and yesterday morning. They took away Tk 20,64,447 breaking the steel almirahs, cabinets and iron safes inside the office rooms.

Later, Khondaker Mohiuddin, an official of Silver Line Associates, filed a case (No. 54) with the Gulshan Police Station accusing ten persons including cleaner Asif, electrician Sagar, liftman Zahir and security guard Firoze.

However, none was arrested in connection with the incident till filing this report last night.
