Adviser for Commerce and Education to the Caretaker Government Dr. Hossain Zillur Rahman said that the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) would soon be revived with newer features so that the essential markets can not bump at the wish of the failure of the agencies engaged in market intervention and better protection of the consumers' rights, the adviser claimed, had prompted the government to take up the TCB's revival.

Though it came into being in the bad days of 1972, it was never given a favorable environment to grow up as a public entity of market overseer and remedy-maker.

"Name and structure of the entity may undergo total overhauling apart from empowering it for procuring and selling of essentials at fair prices", he told reporters late last night while taking a trip to his hometown at Chandnaish. Responding to a question on soaring prices of essentials the adviser said that the government would soon strengthen market monitoring system and workout appropriate measure to stop it.
