A Bangladeshi national was killed by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Jadabpur border under Maheshpur upazila of the district on Wednesday night, BDR sources said.

The victim was identified as Samaul Mandal, 29, son of Kitab Ali Mondal of Pargopalpur village under Maheshpur upazila.

BDR and local people said patrolling BSF members of Hariharpur border outpost opened fire on Samaul on the frontier, killing him on the spot.

Later, the BSF personnel took away his body to the Indian territory, the sources said.

The Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) authorities lodged protest with their Indian counterparts and called for a flag meeting. They also demanded return of the body of Bangladeshi national.
