Drive not against politicians : Home Ministry UNB, Dhaka The government yesterday denied that the special drive launched on June 28 across the country was aimed at political parties or harassing the politicians. Home Ministry press release said the drive was aimed to check the rising trend of terrorist attack on police and snatching away arms, unrest in garments sector, secret killing, mugging and terrorist activities. Clarifying the situation in view of media report it said 548 people were arrested across the country in 24 hours since the drive was launched on May 28. The drive was launched against illegal arms holders, terrorists, muggers, secret killers, trouble mongers in garment sector which have been increasing to the worries of the people. It said the Army personnel assisted the drive and the arrest was made on the basis of specific charges and suspecting involvement in terrorist activities. The Home Ministry categorically refuted the allegation that the special drive has any political motive or to harass the politicians. The special drive was launched to ensure people's safety and security.
