Newly appointed Chief Justice MM Ruhul Amin took oath at Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban on Sunday.

President Prof Dr Iajuddin Ahmed administered the oath at about 10:30am. Cabinet secretary Ali Imam Majumder conducted the ceremony.

Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed, Speaker Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar and outgoing Chief Justice Md Ruhul Amin were present.

Advisers, special assistants to the Chief Adviser, Chief Election Commissioner, Judges of the Supreme Court, Chiefs of three services, Attorney General, concerned secretaries, Vice-chancellors of different universities, former Chief Justices, editors, eminent lawyers, journalists and senior military and civil officials were also present at the ceremony.

Justice MM Ruhul Amin, a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, has been appointed Chief Justice, superseding his senior M Fazlul Karim.

Earlier, President Prof Dr Iajuddin Ahmed appointed Justice MM Ruhul Amin, a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court as Chief Justice on May 25.
