FBCCI president warns of another 1/11

President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Annisul Huq has cautioned the nation of another 1/11 if the on-going dialogue with political parties failed due to non-participation by the major parties.
"And if this happens, the business community will be the worst sufferer," he said at a function of Meghna Group of Industries at Sonargaon yesterday.
BNP and Awami League have stood firm not to join the dialogue and even the election set for December if their chiefs Khaleda Zia and Sheikh are set free without any condition. Former prime ministers Khaleda and Hasina are undergoing trial on corruption charges.
Expressing hope Anis said the major parties would change their decision and join the dialogue.
The business community leader urged the government and the parties to be flexible and take positive initiative before the back pushed to the wall.
He had recently indicated of taking initiative on behalf of FBCCI in acting as a bridge between the government and the political parties to patch up the differences.
He hoped that the two big political parties of the country would participate in the dialogue initiated by the government.
Meghna Group chairman and managing director Mostafa Kamal presided over the function.
5 army men injured in road accident
UNB, Bandarban
Five army personnel were injured when a pick up van plunged into a hilly ravine at Farook para on Bandarban-Chimbuk road yesterday.
Army sources said the accident occurred in the afternoon when the driver of the Ruma Garrison-bound pick up, carrying the army personnel, lost his control over steering.
Injured corporals Shafiullah and Shah Alam and soldiers Moslem, Shahin and Mosleh were admitted to the Military Hospital.
