T20 ignites regional divide We are watching the ongoing T20 games (IPL) from Day One. Critics are divided on the nature, format and future of classical games of cricket. However, there is, perhaps, one common point that T20 is much entertaining and at times exciting too. In effect, IPL T20 has created a sports business boom in India. But not without any vice. T20 has cost or cast doubts on the national feeling of the Indians. With the progress of the IPL, it has ignited stiff localism or regionalism. Punjab cries for the Punjab Kings. So the Mumbai Indians. Even Sachin (Tendulker) who is otherwise treated as a Demi-god (in cricket) gets no cheers from the Chenni fans; rather the Punjab crowds enjoyed his run-out in real juvilation. Local fans even cheer for the foreign plays more than the opponent national heroes. That is supporters becoming more and more region focused. This regional feeling has reached such a pass that Yuva Raj Singh (PK XI Captain) made a direct comment on it while talking to TV on winning against Mumbai Indians (at Mumbai Stadium). Yuvi said, "Thanks Mumbai for not to be kind to us (Punjab King XI). But please remember a few boys play for India (National Team) who are now playing for Punjab." That is in Inidian Cricket Home Team Boys get more Kurdo over the once famous national heroes. It is a bad or good sign - only goddess know well. Abu Musa Miah Lalbagh, Dhaka
