A minor girl drowned in the Bhairab river under Mujibnagar Upazila in the district on Sunday.

The dead was identified as Jotsna, 11, daughter of Abdul Jabbar and a student of class three of Ashrafpur Government Primary School.

Family sources said Jotsna and her friends went to the Bhairab river near her house for swimming. When her friends came out of the river after swimming Jotsna was missing.

Local people after a frantic search recovered the body of the ill fated girl and rushed her to upazila health complex where the doctors declared her dead.
