Visiting President of Rotary International Wilfrid J Wilkinson made a courtesy call on President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed at Bangabhaban on Sunday. Welcoming Wilfrid J Wilkinson, President Iajuddin praised various activities of Rotary International, especially Rotary's assistance in eradicating Polio through its Polio-Plus project. He also thanked Rotary International and its District in Bangladesh for their contribution through their various activities, including pioneering role in setting up of cancer detection centre, arsenic mitigation, non-formal education and providing low coast shelters for the underprivileged of the country.

President Iajuddin expressed his satisfaction over the activities of Rotary district in arranging post flood and post cyclone relief activities.

The Visiting Rotary International President told President Iajuddin that literacy problem is a global problem as he observed when he visited across the glob, especially many countries in Africa and Asia.

Wilfrid J Wilkinson praised Bangladesh government for its initiative in poverty alleviation.

Among others, Governor of RI District 3280, Bangladesh, RTN Rafiq Ahmed was also present.

Military Secretary to the President Maj Gen Mohd Aminul Karim, Secretary to the President's Office Md Sirajul Islam and President's Press Secretary Abdul Awal Hawlader were present.
