Abahani win over Mohammedan

Abahani registered an emphatic nine-wicket win over arch rival Mohammedan in a vital super league match of the Metropolis Premier Division Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday.
It was second win of Abahani over Mohammedan after a two-wicket in the first encounter.
With this, Abahani improved their position securing 23 points, three points ahead of Mohammedan and five points behind of league leader Bangladesh Biman (25). Biman beat BKSP (17) by 69 runs in the other super league match at the Narayanganj Osmani (Fatullah) Stadium today.
In another match, Surja Tarun Club beat City Club by five wickets at the BKSP-2.
With this result, Surja Tarun collected 14 points while City Club remained at their previous credit of 11 points.
Abahani Limited vs Mohammedan SC,
Sent to bat first, Mohammedan were all out for 133 in 47.2 overs in the face of strict bowling attacks by Abahani.
Opener Anwar Hossain scored 34 runs off 84 balls with four fours while Aftab Ahmed made 26 runs off 43 balls.
National skipper Mohammad Ashraful added 24 runs off 62 balls with a boundary while Adeel Arshad and Tapash Baisha scored 13 each for the black & white outfit.
Mohammad Rafique, Ziaur Rahman and Talha Jubayer bagged two wickets each for 15, 17 and 31 runs respectively.
In reply, Abahani easily reached the target making 134 runs in 21.2 overs for the loss of one wicket with opener Sahagir Hossain contributing unbeaten 67 runs off 70 balls. He hit nine fours and a six.
Shahriar Nafees hammered also unbeaten 62 runs off 54 balls hitting nine boundaries and an over boundary.
Tapash Baisha took the only wicket for 17 runs.

Biman Bangladesh vs BKSP
At the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium, Biman Bangladesh opted to bat first and scored 246 for 8 in stipulated 50 overs with Nafis Iqbal contributing 63 runs off 108 balls with six fours, while national cricketer Alok Kapali hammered 45 runs off 42 balls hitting three boundaries and two over boundaries.
Tamim Iqbal (39), Nasir Jamshed (27) and Mashrafee Mortaza (22) were the other notable scorers for Bangladesh Biman.
Raihan Anas hauled two wickets for 33 runs.
Chasing the winning target of 246, BKSP were dismissed for 177 in 50 overs with Mushfiqur Rahim contributing 50 runs off 70 balls with two fours and Mohammad Mithun making 34 runs off 53 balls that included five boundaries.
Raihan Anas (22), Mominul Haq (20) and Ashraful Aziz were the other contributors for BKSP.
Mosharaf Hossain captured three wickets for 24 runs while Mahbubul Alam bagged two for 32 runs.
Surja Tarun vs City Club
At BKSP-2, coined favored City Club batted first and scored 182 for 8 in stipulated 50 overs with Golam Mabud scoring 49 runs and Rashed Islam 36.
Nayeem Islam and Mohammad Sharif bagged two wickets each for 21 and 44 runs respectively.
In reply, Surja Tarun reached to their target scoring 183 in 43 overs for the loss of five wickets with Samsur Rahman contributing 68 runs while Habibul Bashar made 60.
Atiqur Rahman took two wickets for 28 runs.
South Zone of Pioneer Football starts today

The South Zone match of the Dhaka City Corporation Pioneer Football League starts today at 4.15 PM at the Mohammadpur Eidgah Ground. BKSP will take on Mukto Jibon Football Club in the opening match today. Newly elected Vice-President of Bangladesh Football Federation Badol Roy will inaugurate the match as the Chief guest. Chairman of the Pioneer Football League Committee M Aziz Ullah Aziz and the other officials of the League Committee will be present at the time.
A total of 14 teams splitting into two groups are taking part in the competition of South Zone.
BKSP, Dragon KC, Dipto Tarunya Football Academy, Tangail Football Club, GBHB, Baden Powell SC, Mukto Jibon Football Club have been pencilled in Group A while Dhanmondi Football Academy, Mohammadpur Sonali Sangha, Prashanna Podder Lane Samaj Kalyan Parishad, Mohanagar KC, Mohammadpur Jubo Samaj Kalyan Sangha, Shuvadda SC, Madrasa SC have been slatted in Group B.
Premier Hockey: Mohammedans defeat Mariners

Mohammedan Sporting Club came from behind and earned a 3-1 victory over Dhaka Mariner Youngs Club in the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League at the Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium on Thursday.
The first half was locked 1-1.
Ranchan of Mariner Youngs put his team ahead by a field goal in the 9th minute of the first half.
Skipper Prince of Mohammedan Sporting Club equalised the margin by a field goal in the 19th minute of the play.
After the lemon-break Issa Miah of Mohammedan Sporting Club broke the deadlock using a penalty corner in the 51st minute of the game.
Manik of Mohammedan Sporting Club sealed the fate of the match (3-1) by a field goal in the 55th minute of the play.
Meanwhile, Wari Club defeated Sadharan Bima KS by 2-0 goals in the day's other match at the same venue.
The victorious team led the first half 2-0.
Faisal and Tapu scored one goal each for the winners.
Today Azad SC will face Bangladesh SC at 2.30 PM while Usha KC will meet Ajax SC at 4.00 PM at the same venue.
Prantik KC registers 112-run win over Green Leaf SC

Prantik KC registered a 112-run win over Green Leaf SC in a super league match of the 2nd Division Cricket League at the Jagannath Hall ground on Thursday.
Opting to bat first, Prantik KC scored 216 for all in 43.3 overs with Rakib contributing 76 runs, while Russell made 45.
Iqbal grabbed three wickets for 42 runs while Mokammel took two for 19.
In reply, Green Leaf SC were all out for 104 in 34.4 overs with Saiful scoring 20 runs.
Naser claimed six wickets for 31 runs while Didar captured two for 19.
In the day's other matches, Prime Doleshwar (159/6) beat Kakrail Boys Club (156/9) by four wickets at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium, while Dhanmondi Pragati Sangha (162/7) outclassed Gopibagh FA (159/10) by three wickets at the Dhaka University ground.
Prisons Dte, Institute of Kabaddi reach semis

Prisons Directorate and Institute of Kabaddi reached the semifinals of the Metropolis 2nd Division Kabaddi League winning their respective quarterfinal matches at the Outer Stadium kabaddi court on Thursday.
Earlier, on Wednesday, Arbachin KC and Swarnali Club confirmed their semifinal berths.
Both the semifinals - Prisons Directorate vs Institute of Kabaddi and Arbachin KC vs Swarnali Club - will be held today (Friday) at 4 pm at the same venue.
In the day's first quarterfinal, Prisons Directorate crushed Bangladesh Boys Club 59-12 with four creditable "lona", while Institute of Kabaddi beat Captain Bazar KC 43-38 with two creditable "lona".
Bangladesh SC blank Titu Smriti Sangsad 5-0

Bangladesh SC crushed Titu Smriti Sangsad by 5-0 goals in a match of the Dhaka City Corporation Pioneer Football (Under-16) League at the Dhupkhola Jagannath University ground on Thursday.
Sunam struck twice, while Fazle Rabbi, Zahed and Saddam netted one goal each for the winners.
In the day's other match at the same venue, Power Sun Ganderia beat Adamjee KC by 3-1 goals.
Faisal, Raju and Babu scored for the winners, while Al Amin netted the lone goal for the losers.
