Poll schedule in time: EC UNB, Dhaka The Election Commission will announce the specific date of election in proper time following the Chief Adviser' s address to the nation setting a tentative timing for the long-deferred polls. "The way the election schedule has to be announced, before two to two and a half months, you'll see then," Chief Election Commissioner Dr ATM Shamsul Huda told reporters Tuesday as asked about the specific date of election. The CEC was speaking to the journalists as they sought his reaction following the CA's address to the nation given Monday, where he said the national elections would be held in the third week of December. CEC Huda declined to comment when pointed out that there was no specific mention of the prevailing state of emergency over the country. About holding the polls in December, he said all things are quite alright regarding the matter. "We didn't say about any specific date of the third week (of December. We'll see, when the time will come to tell about the specific date," the CEC said when asked if the election would be held in the third week of December at all since Eid, Hajj and year-final examinations in educational institutions would take place at that time. About the writ petition in the High Court against the EC's move on delimitating the electoral constituencies, CEC Huda said there would be legal battle over it and the EC would answer to the HC rule. "We're standing on solid ground. There is nothing to worry," he said.
