Cattle trader injured by BSF firing

JOYPURHAT, May 12: Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot and wounded a Bangladeshi cattle trader at Pagla Dewan frontier in Sadar upazila early Friday. BDR sources said the Indian border guards fired shots towards a group of Bangladeshi cattle traders along the border at about 4.30am, leaving Mesban Ali, 29, son of Mokhlesur Rahman of Koria village of Panchbibi upazila, injured. They also dragged away the injured cattle trader to their camp, one of the witnesses said, reports UNB.

Dacoit lynched in Madaripur

MADARIPUR, May 12: An alleged dacoit was lynched by a mob at Bachamara village in Shibchar upazila early Friday. The dead was identified as Saidur Rahman Bepari, 35, son of Helaluddin of nearby Beparikandi village in the upazila. Sources said when a gang of four robbers entered the house of Chandu Matabbor at about 2am at Bachamara village for committing robbery villagers caught one of them, Saidur, gouged out his eyes and then beat him to death, reports UNB.

Body recovered

MADARIPUR, May 12: Police recovered the body of a young girl from Dhuasar village in Kalkini on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Farida Begum, 22, daughter of Abdul Wadud of Mahisher Char village in Sadar upazila of the district. Local people found the body in a papaya garden at noon and informed the police. Later, police sent the body to hospital morgue for autopsy, reports UNB.

451 sacks Indian fertilizer seized

JESSORE, May 12: Rapid Action Battalion members seized 451 sacks of substandard Indian Potash fertilizer from a shop near Navaran health complex in Sharsha upazila headquarters Wednesday. Acting on a secret information, the elite force raided the shop of Noor Mohammad and recovered the fertilizer. Sensing police presence the shop owner and his associates fled the scene. A case was filed in this connection, reports UNB.
