Khulna DSA emerge zonal champions

A brilliant century by Mosaddek guided Khulna DSA to clinch the zonal title to reach the final round of the 28th National Cricket Championship beating Magura DSA by 100 runs in the zonal final at Jessore Stadium on Sunday.
Winning the toss, Khulna DSA batted first to post a moderate 227 for 6 in quota 50 overs with Mosaddek contributing 101 runs off 123 balls that featuring eight fours and a six.
Azim grabbed three wickets for 39 runs while Ripon Sarkar took two for 50 runs.
In reply, Magura DSA were all out for 127 in 41.1 overs with Jonny making 34 and Biswajit 27 runs.
Dipu claimed three wickets for 18 runs while Tutul took two for 16.
Besides, Comilla and Rangpur DSAs also moved into the zonal finals eliminating their rivals in the semis on Sunday.
At the Comilla Stadium, an all-round performance by Nazrul enabled hosts Comilla DSA to reach the zonal final eliminating Chandpur DSA by seven wickets.
Batting first after favoured by coin, Chandpur DSA were all out for 149 in 48.3 overs with Garry scoring not out 40 and Zahid 28 runs.
Pintu picked up four wickets for 31 runs while Nazrul bagged three for 23 runs.
In reply, Comilla DSA cantered to victory scoring 153 runs in 27.1 overs for the loss of three wickets.
Nazrul, who earlier bagged three wickets, also made an unconquered 71 runs off 73 balls.
In the day's other match at the Rajshahi Divisional Stadium, Rangpur DSA defeated Pabna DSA by five wickets.
Opting to bat first,Pabna DSS were dismissed for 119 runs in 31.4 overs with Rafique making 31.
Rahman claimed four wickets for 17 runs while Babu grabbed two wickets for 20 runs.
In reply, Rangpur DSA easily reached the target of 120 runs in 25.2 overs for the loss of five wickets with Salauddin scoring 29 runs. Shahab grabbed two wickets for 25 runs.
Usha KC beat Sonali Bank in Premier Hockey

Usha KC beat Sonali Bank SRC by 6-4 goals in the crucial match of the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League at the Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium on Sunday.
The pre-lemon session saw a 3-1 goals lead for the winners.
Rajon, Habul of Usha KC scored two goals each and their teammates Tariq, Dinar netted one each.
On the other hand, Rimon, Nannu, Chandan and Turjo struck one time each on the board for the losers.
Today Mohammedan Sporting Club will take on Sadharan Bima KS at 2.30 PM while Abahani Limited will face Ajax SC at 4.00 PM at the same venue.
BCB to re-bid title sponsorship right for upcoming tri-nation

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will call fresh bids for the title sponsorship rights for the upcoming tri-nation ODI series to be held in the capital in June.
The Board decided to re-tender the title sponsorship rights as two bidders - Ad Touch and Axiom Technologies -- failed to meet the floor price, which was set at US$ 500,000.
The BCB also decided to call fresh bids for the In-Stadia advertisement rights (package 2) as three bidders -- Bottom Line, Ad Touch and Axiom Technologies -- quoted below the floor price of US$ 250,000.
The re-tender for both title sponsorship rights and package 2 category will be held on Monday.
The package 2 will cover the naming rights of the two bowling ends, four mid-wicket pitch mats and the boundary ropes.
Meanwhile, there will be no re-tender for the package 1 category which covers the 26 perimeter boards, ground boards, mid wall and floodlight tower. Three bidders -- Indus Adcom (India), Bottom Line and Axiom Technologies -- submitted their bids in this category where the floor price was set US$ 250,000.
BCB's marketing and commercial committee chairman Salman Ispahani, tender and purchase committee chairman Lt. Col. (retd) MA Latif Khan were present during the opening of the bids at the BCB's Navana Tower Office at Gulshan today (Sunday).
The tri-nation series involving India, Pakistan and hosts Bangladesh will be held on June 8-15.
After the single league basis matches, the final of the meet will be held on June 14 at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium (SBNS).
Pioneer Football kicks off today

The East Zone match of the Dhaka City Corporation Pioneer Football League kicks off today at 4.15 PM at the Dhupkhola Jagannath University College Ground. Newly elected Vice-President of Bangladesh Football Federation Md. Shawkat Ali Khan Jahangir will formally open the football meet as the chief guest.
A total of 14 teams splitting into two groups are taking part in the East Zone. They are: Redsun KC, Jatrabari Jhatika Sangsad, Abdul Hadi Lane Jubo Sangha, Nasrin Sports Academy, Haji Jummon Smriti Sangsad, Mir Hazaribagh KC, Sat Rawja Nabin Sangha are in Group A While Bangladesh Sporting Club, Mansoor Sporting Club, Adamjee KC, Tito Smriti Sangsad, Power Sun Gandaria, East End Junior, Commisioner Shafiuddin Smriti Sangsad are in Group B.
On the other hand, a number of 14 teams dividing into two groups are competing in the South Zone. They are: BKSP, Dragon KC, Dipto Tarunnya Football Academy, Tangail Football Club, GBHB, Baden Powell SC, Mukto Jibon Football Club are in Group A while Dhanmondi Football Academy, Mohammadpur Sonali Sangha, Prashanna Poddar Lane Samaj Kalyan Parishad, Mohanagar KC, Mohammadpur Jubo Samaj Kalyan Sangha, Suvadda SC and Madrasa SC are in Group B.
Freedom Fighters Rehabilitation Society drub Bangladesh Boys Club 70-14

The Freedom Fighters Rehabilitation Society drubbed Bangladesh Boys Club by 70-14 points with three creditable `lonas' in the Metropolis 2nd Division Kabaddi League at the Kabaddi Stadium here on Sunday.
In the day's other match, Star Sports outplayed Shishu Kishore Sangha by 56-36 points with three `lonas'.

Premier Division super league resumes today

After a two-day recess, the super league of the Metropolis Premier Division Cricket League resumes Monday with three matches scheduled for the day at separate venues in and around the city.
League leaders Biman Bangladesh Cricket team face Surjotarun Club at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium (SBNS), Mohammedan SC take on BKSP at the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium (NOS) while Abahani Limited meet City Club at the BKSP-2.
Biman Bangladesh Cricket team currently leads the league table with 21 points, followed by Mohammedan SC in the 2nd position with 20 points, both playing 12 matches.
Abahani Limited lies in the 3rd slot with 19 points and BKSP in the 4th place with 15 points, while Surjotarun Club and City Club remained at 12 and 11 points respectively, all playing 12 matches.
