Nudity redefined Of late, the Delhi High Court has acquitted noted Indian Muslim Artist Mokbul Feda Hussain of the charges labelled against him of obscenity for his famous work Mother India. Hussain is critically acclaimed around the world for his aesthetic paintings, which are often priced at million dollars (US). In this artwork - Mother India - Hussain visualised his motherland as a cute lady in nude. It may be said that the Hindu gods and goddesses themselves were very liberal in their dress code. The best examples are goddess Kali (Parvati) and her husband Shiva himself. But the ultra Hindu hydra-headed Sibsena and BJP elements harassed MF Hussain in more than one counts and forced him to live in exile. The court's observation is a sigh of relief for the artist. The court said, 'The 92-year-old painter deserves to be at home, painting his canvases.' We hope the Indian Central government will extend all meaningful help and protection to painter Feda.
