United efforts to resist deal against national interest underscored RU, Correspondent Speakers at a seminar on Wednesday called upon the caretaker government to cancel all natural resources agreements against national interest with multinational companies. Speakers said at the seminar on 'Fuel Policy and National Interest Perspective on Bangladesh' at 4th arts building room no 121, on Wednesday. The seminar was organised by Natural and Mineral Resource Development Committee of Rajshahi University. They also said mineral resources should be used only in the country, not for sale as the peoples is the owners of all natural resources. Speakers also demanded neutral investigation on previous governments' corruption on coal, gas, port and powers sectors. Prof Shamsul Alam, dean of electronic engineering of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology and director of energy institute presented main keynote paper on 'Fuel policy and national interest perspective on Bangladesh' at the seminar. Engineer Sheikh Muhammad Shahidullah, Prof Anu Muhammad, Prof MM Akash, Prof Musfik Ahmed, Prof AKM Abdul Mazid, advocate Hamidul Haque, Prof Musfik Ahmed and Prof Hassan Azizul Haque also spoke on the seminar. The seminar was presided over by Prof Muhammad Naser, chairman of Natural and Mineral Resource Development Committee of Rajshahi University. They urged all to be united to resist all agreements against national interest. Several hundred university teachers, researchers, students and environment specialists took part in the seminar.
