Harvesting of Boro paddy going on full swing

Harvesting of Boro paddy has started in all three upazilas of the district in full swing that eased the sufferings of the poor people by creating job opportunities and reducing price of rice.

The wage of a labour has gone up to Taka 180 to 200 per day from Taka 80 to 100 a month ago.

The start of harvesting Boro has completely changed the scenario in the local labour market. Due to heavy demands for labour the big land owners are not getting sufficient labour for harvesting their paddy.

According to the Department of Agriculture Extension, Boro paddy was cultivated in 34,300 hectares of land in the district with a target to produce 1,47,328 metric tonnes of paddy.
