NN BUSINESS REPORT

National Association of Small and Cottage Industries of Bangladesh (NASCIB) has launched a five-day long training workshop for its members from different districts of Bangladesh.

The training workshop is being implemented with direct cooperation of Light Engineering Business Promotion Council (LEPBPC).

Md Ghulam Hussain, Council Coordinator, Business Promotion Council attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest.

Mirza Nurul Ghani Shovon, President of NASCIB presided over the opening ceremony.

Nearly 45 NASCIB Light Engineering sector members from Sirajganj, Naogaon, Brahmanbaria and Dhaka districts of NASCIB have been participating in the training. Ghulam Hussain emphasised on the constraint issues of light engineering sector. He told such a training has been mandatory for the entrepreneurs because Bangladesh is becoming backward with the global competitors and the export from light engineering sector during the last nine months of the current fiscal year of 2007-08 has declined by 37 per cent compared to the previous year's export figure. Professor Masuda M. Rashid Chowdhury of Dhaka University was present as special guest. She requested the Council Coordinator to organise such programmes more and more with NASCIB entrepreneurs.

Mirza Nurul Ghani Shovon requested the participants to become more careful about the lecture sessions and working sessions.

Aminul Islam Rokon, Acting Secretary General of NASCIB coordinated the whole programme. Faculties from BUET, IBA, Dhaka University and successful entrepreneurs of light engineering sector are conducting the sessions.
