Zebra crossing needed at Folder Street Over last four years we have repeatedly requested DCC for setting up a zebra crossing or a foot overbridge or an underground passage at Folder Street, Wari, near Sher-e-Bangla School/Wari School point for safety and security of thousands of pedestrians men, women and children, young and old, school boys and girls crossing the street day and night amid hundreds of running and speedy motor vehicles, buses, trucks and rickshaws. We have also approached DMP several times for posting of traffic police there to regulate and supervice the dangerous vehicular traffic and the movement of the pedestrians. But all in vain. It appears that DCC and DMP do not care at all for the letters of the members of public published in the national dailies. This also proves lack of good governance in our country and inefficiency in our administration. It is alleged that DCC is wasting colossal amount of Taka digging various roads and streets, demolishing and reconstruction of road islands round the year. DCC is spending crores of Taka for decorating and renovating VIP roads but the DCC cannot afford money to set up a much needed Zebra Crossing and purchase white paint for the purpose. DMP is also spending huge amount of public money for observing traffic week and other show business, good for nothing, but cannot make the arrangement for posting of a traffic police constable at Folder Street Wari near Sher-e-Bangla/Wari School in the interest of public service. We fail to understand why about quarter of a mile road of Jatrabari-Gulistan route from southeast corner of Rajdhani Super Market to northwest corner of Folder Street/Jaikali Mandir Road corner has been made one-way road traffic without any road island, zebra crossing, foot overbridge or underground passage in the densely populated, crowded and congested residential-cum- commercial areas of Wari, Hatkhola and Narenda in old Dhaka at the cost of untold sufferings, risk of accident, injuries and death of the people and the pedestrians ?
