Foreign Adviser Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury received Shahi Imam of the New Delhi Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari at his office on Monday.

Syed Ahmed Bukhari is on a private visit to Bangladesh.

Iftekhar said, "We discussed the values of the great faith of Islam that preaches tolerance and understanding. We were of the view that it is necessary to reach a greater understanding on this religion of peace in the world."

During their discussions, the foreign adviser appreciated the services rendered to the community by the Bukhari family through centuries.
