Kazi Salauhddin new BFF boss

Legendary footballer Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin swept to the hot seat of President in the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) election held on Monday at the BFF Bhaban in a festive mood.

Salahuddin bagged 62 votes while his rival Maj Gen (retd) Amin Ahmed Chowdury polled 49 votes.

Out of 21 posts at stake, Kazi Salahuddin-led panel got ten posts including president, one vice-president and eight executive committee members.

Maj Gen (retd) Amin Ahmed Chowdhury led panel got 11 posts, including senior vice president, three vice presidents and seven executive committee members.

Elected from Amin Ahmed Chowdhury-led panel: Sr vice-president- Abdus Salam Morshedi (Dhaka Mohammedan), vice-presidents - Kazi Nabil Ahmed (Dhaka Abahani), Badal Roy (Comilla) and Shawkat Ali Khan Jahangir (Victoria SC).

Members - Harun-ur-Rashid (Ctg Abahani), Fazlur Rahman Babul (T&T Club), Sheikh Mohammad Aslam (Khulna Division), Khurshid Alam Babul (Matuail Udayan Sangha), Hasanuzzaman Khan Bablu (Rajshahi), Satyajit Das Rupu (Coaches Association) and Shamsul Haque Chowdhury (Chittagong).

Elected from Kazi Salauddin-led panel: President - Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin (Youngmens' Club); vice president - Manzoor Hossain Malu (Tongi KC).

Members- Anwarul Haque Helal (Gulistan Club), Sirajul Islam Bachchu (Wari Club), Amirul Islam Babu (Mohakhali Eleven), Azfar-uz-Zaman Sohrab (Muslim Institute), Golam Rabbani Helal (Barisal), Mahbubur Rahman Shaheen (Wanderers Club) and Alhaj Mokbul Hossain (Magura) and Shafiquzzaman Shafiq (Jessore).

All the 112 councilors of BFF representing districts, divisions, metropolis clubs, public universities, education boards and other associations exercised their voting right to elect president, a senior vice president, four vice-presidents and 15 executive members.

AFC general secretary Paul Mony and Director of AFC legal service Chairmaine Perreira watched the BFF election as observers.

Registrar of Trade Marks and Patents M Mesbahuddin conducted the polling as chief election commissioner while Director of Passport and Immigration Department Mahfuzur Rahman Siddiqui and NSC Law Officer Kabirul Islam assisted him as election commissioners.

Earlier, Annual General Meeting of BFF was held in the morning at the BFF Bhaban with its President SA Sultan in the chair.

The meeting accorded approval of formation of district football associations and divisional football associations, amended the BFF constitution as per FIFA/AFC guidelines and approved the last year budget.

But the meeting rejected the proposed budget for the year 2008 as it has no guideline and allocation for district and divisional sports associations.

BFF Vice President Abdur Rahim, who is also chairman of Finance Committee, presented the Audit report in the meeting in the absence of Treasurer Shah Alam Chowdhury.
