Telecast BD Channels in India Recently while inaugurating the second Dhaka International Cable TV Exhibition, FBCCI President Anisul Huq observed that Bangladesh have been maintaining a softline in her cable TV exhibition policy. In Bangladesh so many foreign TV channels including those of India are being exhibited. But it is a matter of great regret that Bangladeshi channels are not exhibited in our neighbouring country India. The FBCCI President urged the concerned authorities to take steps to telecast Bangladesh channels in India. He also suggested to impose duties on the ads telecast by the foreign TV channels in Bangladesh. I appreciate the above observations made by the FBCCI President and I would like to sincerely call upon the authorities in India to take appropriate steps so that Bangladeshi channels could be exhibited in that country. USAID hosts Education Summit According to a Press Release received from Washington, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will host a 'Higher Education Summit for Global Development' through which higher educational institutions in the developed and developing world, private sector businesses, and foundations will be able to build partnerships and share best practices for development. In this summit, emphasis will be given to emerging and innovative technologies that can help overcome the obstacles to higher education and to knowledge and technology transfer in developing countries. While appreciating the USAID's initiative in holding such an important summit, I sincerely hope that the outcome of this summit will create opportunities for Bangladesh towards building partnerships and in sharing knowledge and experiences for her own development.
