GP-BCB Academy take overall 95 run lead over Pakistan Academy UNB, Dhaka Hosts GP-BCB Academy team took overall 95-run lead over visiting Pakistan Academy team on the 2nd day of the first four-day match at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium (SCS) in Bogra on Sunday. GP-BCB Academy team scored 144 for 5 in 34 overs in their 2nd innings when the bails were drawn for the 2nd day after bowling out Pakistan Academy team for 241 in 78.5 overs in the 1st innings. Two middle order batsmen -- Shamsur Rahman 22 and Nasir Hossain 1 -- will resume the home side's 2nd innings tomorrow. Opener Farhad Hossain contributed 40 runs off 54 balls with 8 fours while wicket keeper Mushfiqur Rahim (25) and another opener Jahirul Islam Omi (22) came up with some mediocre scores. Anwar Ali and Yasir Shah grabbed two wickets apiece for 31 and 36 runs respectively. Earlier, replying to GP-BCB Academy's 1st innings total of 192, Pakistan Academy team resumed their 1st innings with overnight 95 for 4 to be all out for 241 in 78.5 overs. Number four Asad Shafiq added another 29 runs to his overnight score to make 50 off 123 balls with eight fours while another night watch Azhar Ali returned to the pavilion at his overnight score of 5. Number Seven Imad Wasim's not out 33 along with Anwar Ali's 20 and Yasir Shah's 14 enabled the tourists to take 49-run 1st innings lead. Farhad Hossain, Sajidul Islam and Mahbubul Alam Robin grabbed two wickets each for the hosts. The 2nd and last four-day match between the two teams will also be held at the same venue from May 2. Earlier, in the triangular Grameenphone Academy Cup, Pakistan Academy team clinched the title, beating GP-BCB Academy team by 39 runs in the final at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium (SBNS) Wednesday. Before the triangular one-day tournament, the host team also won the two-match four-day series against South Africa Academy team 1-0. The GP-BCB Academy team won the first four-day match against the Proteas side by an innings and 68 runs while the 2nd four-day match ended in a draw.
