Four children drown in Chandpur

CHANDPUR, Apr 26: Four children drowned in ponds in Faridganj and Matlab (North) upazilas on Thursday afternoon. Locals said Rabbi,5, son of Hanif Talukder, and his cousin Shanto, 7, son of Telu Talikder, drowned in a pond adjacent to their house at Kharkhadia village in Faridganj upazila while playing. Farhad, 4, son of Malek Pradhan, and his cousin Moyna, 4, daughter of Kader Pradhan, also drowned in a pond near their house, reports UNB.



Three killed in road mishap

KUSHTIA, Apr 26: Three people were killed and another was injured when a bus rammed into a human hauler at Charmail on Kushtia-Jhenidah road Friday noon. Local sources said the bus hit the human hauler, locally called as "Kariman", when it tried to give side to a bicycle at about 12.15pm, killing a "Kariman" passenger on the spot, and injuring three other people. The injured were admitted to Kushtia General Hospital where two died. The deceased were identified as raw material traders Mannan, 35, and Nannu of Ishwardi in Pabna, and bicycle rider Azizul, 45, of Kushtia. Injured trader Pannu was shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in a critical condition, reports UNB.
