The National Association of UNESCO Clubs in Bangladesh has announced the "UNESCO Club Journalism Award-2008" for 10 young and promising journalists of the print and electronic media on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day-2008.

The award winner journalists are Mustafiz Shafi of Daily Samokal, Shamim Al Amin of Channel One, Shahnaz Munni of ATN Bangla, Monir Haider of Daily Ittefaq, Mahbuba Zannat of Daily Star, Shahed Alam of NTV, Sakila Jesmin of Channel-I, Mujib Masud of Daily Jugantor, Zia Islam of Prothom Alo and Hassan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiron as a TV personality.

The above journalists will be awarded on May 3 at the National Press Club during the UNESCO Club discussion meeting on "Press Freedom and Safety of Journalists."

It is to be mentioned that the National Association of UNESCO Clubs in Bangladesh introduced the award in 2006 for notable contribution in this field of journalism and media.
