Laila Ragib, an well known poet of seventies, left this world very early. But her creative works-poems, short stries and articles remain and are still appreciated in the literary circle. These contributions remind the readers of her commitment and mission. Poet Laila Ragib was praised by distinguished poets like Mahmuda Khatun Siddiqa, Al Mahmud and Dilwar. The poet left behind her books of poems 'Kinkhabe Mora', 'Brishti Amar Janmabadhi Osru Muchhe Nao' and book of articles 'Nirangane Pakhi' (published after her death). She had her stories and other articles and poems. These need to have a compilation, so that the contemporary readers get her works in one volume. Laila Ragib had a message to the readers. She stressed on Islamic humanistic outlook, religious moral values and tolerance, patriotism and solidarity with the suppressed and have not's. The way of approach of a poet to the readers, according to her, should be simple and the words coined, be easy to understand. She led a movement to make poems easy for readers and to get rid of difficult words. The need of her literary presence is a crying one and this presence has been made possible through this publication 'Laila Ragib Rachana Samagra.' Prof. Nandalal Sharma has completed this huge task as editor, to ensure conveying her message to the present generation. He is the writer, compiler and editor of a number of books and has been praised by literary quaters. This book adds to his achievement. It has successfully brought to light again the mighty pen of Laila Ragib-her poems, short stories. The book includes evaluation of Farid Ahmed Reza, Abu Fetema Mohammad Ishaque, Abdul Halim Khan, Basit Ibne Habib and comments of Md Muslim Chowdhury, Md. Nurul Haque, Al Mahmud, Principal Krishna Kumar Paul Chowdhury and Belal Mohammad. There is album of the late poet and her nearest ones. Ragib Husain Chowdhury, the husband of Laila Ragib, a writer and editor, greatly co-operated in the process of compilation and publication, which is praiseworthy. We appreciate the financial assistance of Mohib Chowdhury, the brother-in-law of Laila Ragib, the publisher, the editor of Notun Din, London. He has rendered a valuable contribution to the rejuvenation of human moral values through this publication. The book has been dedicated in remembrance of Moulana Abdur Rahman and his brother Maulana Abdul Qadir, the predecessors of Laila Ragib, who were eminant writers. The cover by Nazmul Haque Nazu successfully focusses on the interior of the volume. We congratulate all uncerned for this publication. We expect well circulation of the book. -Abdul Muqit Chowdhury
