Touchstone statue seized



Bagerhat, Apr 5: Members of the Rapid Action Battalion arrested a man along with a touchstone made statue of Lord Krishna worth about Tk 1 crore from Srirampur village in Kachua upazila on Wednesday. Acting on a tip-off, members of RAB-6 arrested Saheb Ali Shikder from the village and as per his statement, they recovered the statue weighing seven kgs from his house, reports UNB.



Two sea-boats capsized in Padma



Madaripur, Apr 5: Four people went missing as two sea-boats capsized in the Padma river at Charchanda in Shibchar upazila Wednesday night. Police said the two sea-boats with 18 passengers on board capsized in the river during a storm at about 7pm on way to Kawrakandi from Maowa ghat. Local people rescued 14 of the passengers but the remaining four went missing till the writing of this report at 11:10 am, reports UNB.



3 killed in road mishap



Mymensingh, Apr 5: Three truck labourers were killed and three others injured critically when a truck overturned at Ramgopalpur in Gouripur upazila Thursday morning. Police said three labourers died on the spot when the truck turned turtle while embarking on Mymensingh-Kishoreganj road after loading bricks from a brick-field at about 8.15am The deceased were identified as Faruq, 45, Liton, 32 and Rafique, 28. The injured labourers were sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, reports UNB.
