Check population growth to ensure development: Malek

Special assistant to the chief adviser for Ministry of Post and Telecommunications Brig. General (retd) MA Malek today called upon the people to check population growth and help ensure development of the national economy.

The current trend of population increase must be checked, otherwise it may pose a threat to the healthy growth of the country's socio-economic uplift programmes, he added.

He said this while addressing a views exchange meeting with the cross-section of people at the conference room of the district collectoreate building this morning.

Presided over by Deputy Commissioner AMA Rahman, the meeting was participated, by leaders of different professional groups including government officials, NGO activists, lawyers, teachers, journalists and businessmen.

Earlier, leaders of different professional groups informed the chief guest about the problems facing the town dwellers including problems in Narayanganj telephone exchange, post office, load-shedding and health and sanitation.

The special assistant, who was a former chairman of Power Development Board asked the DESA and Palli Bidyutayan Board officials to ensure uninterrupted supply of power so that the SSC and HSC examinees do not suffer from load shedding.

He also urged the businessmen to run their business imbued with the sense of patriotism and their respective religious faiths.

Later, the special assistant visited Godnyle Government Shelter Homes, Narayanganj Telephone Exchange, Muslim Nagar Orphanage and post office.

Commander of Narayanganj Joint Forces Major Kamal, RAB commander Major Muhit were present on the occasion.
